I didn't know about creative grief, but it explains a lot of my experiences.

Artists feel what is called “creative grief.” Executing a creative project is like climbing a mountain. At the summit, the artist feels they’re at the top of the world. Soon, the excitement fades and is replaced by a feeling of disappointment.
